My creative life changed in late 1986 when I began playing keyboard for Theatresports at the Victorian Arts Centre. A case of "right place, right time" and I haven't stopped working and exploring this amazing and evolving art form with some incredible talent.
THEATRESPORTS
1986-1995
I was very blessed to have had the chance to play keyboard for Theatresports from 1986. It was beginning to become the "must-see" Sunday night show and crowds built so much that the finals were moved to a sold-out 2000-seat Hamer Hall.
SPONTANEOUS BROADWAY
2000-
Spontaneous Broadway was invented in New York in 1996 by Kat Koppett. I found the format on a trip there in 1999 and a year later began producing our Australian version with host Russell Fletcher and the cream of Australia's improvising musical theatre stars.
It's been played around the world since with seasons at the Sydney Opera House, Famous Spiegeltent (Edinburgh Fringe) and in Perth at Her Majesty's Theatre.
RANDOM MUSICAL
2011-
"Random Musical" is an improvised musical for children that I devised after being approached by the Victorian Arts Centre in 2011. It's designed for children 5-12 with scope for audience interaction and has been performed at festivals around Australia and New Zealand.
It received a nomination for Best Children's Show at the Sydney Theatre Awards for our sell-out Sydney Opera House season in 2013.
